Tour Highlights

  • Explore all of Kauai’s iconic locations, including but not limited to  Waimea Canyon, the Nā Pali Coast, Kīlauea Lighthouse, Wailua Falls, Opaekaʻa Falls, Spouting Horn, and many hidden gems.
  • Nā Pali Coast catamaran cruise with snorkeling in crystal-clear waters. Swim above vibrant coral reefs and, with a little luck, encounter Hawaiian green sea turtles and tropical fish.
  • Optional helicopter flight for an unforgettable aerial view of Kauai’s dramatic cliffs, waterfalls, and remote valleys that can’t be reached by road.
  • Stay in a comfortable Airbnb house instead of hotels, giving us maximum flexibility throughout the trip. We can start our days early for the best light, return whenever we like, and enjoy a more relaxed atmosphere.
  • Small group experience with plenty of personal attention, photography guidance, and a relaxed pace.
  • Excellent opportunities for landscape photography and memorable personal portraits.

Physical Difficulty — Easy to Moderate

This tour does not include long or strenuous hikes. Most viewpoints are easily accessible by car, followed by short walks. The most physically demanding activities are optional steep descents to a beach or the base of a waterfall, followed by the climb back up. Participants should be comfortable walking on uneven terrain, climbing stairs, and hiking moderate inclines.

Weather

Mid-May is one of the best times to visit Kauai. Expect daytime temperatures between 75–82°F (24–28°C) and nighttime temperatures around 68–72°F (20–22°C). Brief tropical showers are common, especially on the island’s north shore, but they usually pass quickly and are often followed by sunshine. The rain is what makes Kauai so incredibly lush and is also responsible for its countless waterfalls. Light, breathable clothing, comfortable hiking shoes, a light rain jacket, and sun protection are recommended.

Transportation

All ground transportation during the tour is included in the tour price.

Participants are responsible for their own flights to and from Kauai, as well as transportation between the airport and our Airbnb before and after the tour.

We will do our best to meet arriving participants at the airport and provide transportation to the house whenever possible. However, because everyone arrives on different flights, we cannot guarantee airport pickups. Please be prepared to use Uber, Lyft, or a taxi if necessary on arrival or departure.

Lodging

We’ll stay together in a comfortable Airbnb house, creating a relaxed, home-like atmosphere throughout the trip. Staying in a house also gives us the flexibility to start early, return late after sunset, and enjoy meals on our own schedule.

If you would like single-occupancy accommodation, please contact us as early as possible. Availability is very limited and cannot be guaranteed.

Meals

Meals are not included in the tour price.

Most of our breakfasts and several dinners will be prepared at the house. Your guides will take care of the cooking, so there is no expectation that participants help, although assistance is always welcome.

Preparing some of our own meals not only creates a fun, relaxed group atmosphere, but also helps reduce costs on one of Hawaii’s most expensive islands. It also gives us the flexibility to eat whenever it best fits our photography schedule instead of planning around restaurant business hours.

We’ll also have opportunities to enjoy local cafés and restaurants during the tour.

Itinerary

Day 1. May 30, Sunday

Participants arrive throughout the day. We’ll do our best to meet everyone at the airport and help with transportation to our Airbnb.

For those arriving before 2:00 PM, we’ll head out for our first Hawaiian sunset at one of Kauai’s beautiful coastal locations—a perfect introduction to the island and a great opportunity to stretch your legs after the flight.

In the evening, we’ll gather for a relaxed welcome dinner, get to know each other, discuss the plans for the week, and prepare for the adventures ahead.

Day 2 — 6. May 31 — June 4, Monday — Friday

Our daily schedule will generally follow the rhythm of the island and the best photography light:

Sunrise → Breakfast → Time to Relax → Afternoon Exploration → Sunset → Dinner

Rather than following a rigid itinerary, we’ll remain flexible and adapt to the weather, ocean conditions, and the best available light. During these five days, we’ll visit all of Kauai’s iconic locations, including dramatic coastlines, waterfalls, lush valleys, scenic overlooks, hidden beaches, and Waimea Canyon.

One afternoon we’ll board a catamaran cruise along the spectacular Nā Pali Coast. As the sun gets lower, the cliffs glow with incredible colors, making this one of the most photogenic—and unforgettable—experiences of the entire trip.

For those interested, we can also arrange an optional doors-off helicopter flight over Kauai. This is an extraordinary way to experience the island’s remote waterfalls, emerald valleys, and towering sea cliffs from the air. Helicopter tours sell out well in advance, so we recommend letting us know at least 60 days before the tour if you’d like us to reserve a spot.

We’ll also spend time snorkeling from some of Kauai’s beautiful beaches and swimming in natural ocean pools along rugged volcanic rocks. Don’t forget to bring your snorkeling gear, underwater camera, and water shoes to make the most of these experiences.

Day 7. June 5, Saturday

For participants with afternoon or evening flights, we’ll enjoy one final sunrise photography session before returning to the house for breakfast.

Those with early morning departures will be driven to the airport before sunrise.

After breakfast, we’ll check out of our Airbnb and head to the airport.

End of the Kauai Photography Adventure.

Payment schedule and cancellation policy:

The total price of the tour is $4,100 per person if booked before December 1, 2026.

Bookings made on or after December 1, 2026 are $4,400 per person.

A $600 non-transferable deposit is required to reserve your spot.

Cancellation Policy

If you cancel before March 1, 2027, we will refund your deposit minus $200.

Because we reserve a large Airbnb house for the group well in advance, we are charged cancellation fees if we need to cancel our lodging reservation. For this reason, we are unable to refund the full deposit.

If you cancel on or after March 1, 2027, your $600 deposit becomes non-refundable.

The remaining balance is due by March 1, 2027. Once the final payment has been made, no refunds will be issued if you cancel your participation.

However, if we are able to fill your spot with another participant, we will refund all payments you have made, minus your $600 deposit.

We strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance to protect your investment in case of unexpected cancellations.

If we cancel the tour for any reason, you will receive a 100% refund of all payments made.
