The “Classical Portrait Studio Lighting” workshop is designed to teach participants about the fundamental principles and techniques of lighting in a studio environment to create captivating and professional-looking portrait photographs. During 2-3 hours, as a part of a small group, you will get basic light theory for photography and can practice what they have learned by photographing models in a controlled studio environment. This hands-on experience will allow them to experiment with different lighting setups and receive feedback from the instructor.

Workshop Highlights:

  1. Introduction to Studio Lighting: The workshop will begin with an overview of studio lighting equipment, including different types of lights, modifiers, and accessories commonly used in portrait photography.
  2. Understanding Light: Participants will learn about the properties of light, such as intensity, direction, and quality. This knowledge will help them manipulate light effectively to achieve the desired results.
  3. Lighting Setups: The workshop will cover various lighting setups, such as one-light, two-light, three-light, and five lights configurations. Participants will learn how to position and modify lights to create different moods and effects.
  4. Lighting Ratios: Understanding lighting ratios is crucial in portrait photography. The workshop will cover concepts like key light, fill light, separation (hair) light, and background light, and how to balance their intensities to create dimension and depth in portraits.
  5. Lighting Techniques: Participants will learn various lighting techniques, including Rembrandt lighting, butterfly lighting, loop lighting, and split lighting. These techniques will help them create different moods and emphasize specific facial features.
  6. Practical Demonstrations: The workshop may include live demonstrations where the instructor sets up different lighting scenarios and explains the process step-by-step. Participants will have the opportunity to observe and ask questions.

Overall, the “Studio Lighting in Portrait Photography” workshop aims to equip participants with the knowledge and skills to confidently use studio lighting techniques in their portrait photography, enabling them to create stunning and professional-looking portraits.
